emerson creek pottery giveaway

Today's Giveaway is for a Go Green Earthware Pasta Bowl {$21.50}
(Open to Continental US )

Mmm. Just picture your pasta looking oh so delicious in this bowl...

Keep your homemade dips fresh and cool in this charming piece.

Pottery has always fascinated me. Whether it was through throwing my favorite turqoise clay vase into the kiln or making a mug for mother back in my kindergarten days, pottery has proved itself a wonderful hobby. What I love most about Emerson Creek Pottery is that the company has revived such a historic and treasured craft. (Their ceramic pottery has actually been featured at Monticello, Mt. Vernon and the Smithsonian Institute.)

Other great tidbits about the company? Aside from being meticulously handmade and hand painted (no stencils/templates are used --can you believe that?!), their beloved designs are non-toxic (meaning lead free), microwave safe, oven-proof, and truly truly lovely.

Here's more information from their About Our Pottery page :

"Influenced by the energy of Early American cobalt decoration, owners Priscilla Palmer and Jim Leavitt founded Emerson Creek Pottery in 1977. Priscilla developed the unique technique of applying natural pigments to an absorbent glaze with a Japanese Sumi-e brush. The spontaneity of the brush stroke, combined with the accuracy of design yields our distinctively recognizable style. Priscilla's deep love of the natural world provides a multitude of organic designs for all of Emerson Creek's pottery."

Some faves from Emerson Creek Pottery:

a. Dogwood Teapot {$35} With its quaint simplicity and pretty
pink blossoms, this teapot certainly inspires a Colonial feel.

b. Small Red Poppy Loaf Pan {$14.50} Ever since reading The Little Red Hen
and leafing through images of hen's breadmaking process,
I've had a little place in my heart for adorable loaf pans.

c. Tuscan Olive Drizzle Bottle {$21.50} Just imagine carrying this
rustic bottle out to your porch/terrace table and sprinkling savory
olive oil onto your summer salad. Mamma mia!

I checked out Emerson Creek and I am torn between two patterns. The dragonfly and cranberry pattern. Both are so simple and light.
Beautiful.

I love the dragonfly spoon rest! Actually, though, all of them are just beautiful. Pottery is such a wonderful thing ... so earthy and natural. Each piece is like a bit of the person who made it ... I am awed that someone has taken a piece of clay and molded it into something so beautiful and functional!

Great that Emerson Creek is "green". Beautiful pottery and environmentally friendly. What could be better!

Thanks!
